UNESCO HERITAGE LIST India’s UNESCO Tentative List has reached 78 sites after five new heritage proposals were added. The new proposals include Bagh Cave Paintings, Ginnorgarh Fort, Udaigiri Caves, the Chambal Valley temple group and Sites of Satyagraha.

INDIA–QATAR RELATIONS India and Qatar agreed to accelerate discussions on a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) and a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Qatar has also proposed a major investment commitment in India.

G20 TRADE MINISTERS’ MEETING India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is participating in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Milwaukee, USA. India has stressed the importance of a rules-based multilateral trading system and the WTO.

INDIAN STOCK MARKET Indian equity markets showed recovery on 30 September, with the Sensex and Nifty opening higher. IT stocks supported the recovery, while crude oil prices and foreign investor selling remained key concerns.

INDIA–NEW ZEALAND FTA The India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement is scheduled to come into force on 20 October 2026. The agreement provides for zero-duty access for Indian exports to New Zealand from the beginning of implementation.

RAJASTHAN FARMER ID Rajasthan has become the first state in northern India and the sixth state in India to complete digital identification of farmers. Around 90.19 lakh Farmer IDs have been issued.

CAFE-3 NORMS India has notified the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE-3) norms, which will apply from April 2027. The norms aim to improve vehicle fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

WORLD HEART DAY World Heart Day was observed on 29 September 2026. The day aims to spread awareness about cardiovascular diseases and encourage people to adopt heart-healthy lifestyles.

ASIAN GAMES 2026 Indian athletes continued their medal campaign at the 2026 Asian Games. Neeru Dhanda won gold in women’s trap, while Indian athletes also competed in boxing, squash and tennis.
