1. NATIONAL TEACHERS’ AWARDS 2026

President Droupadi Murmu honoured 48 school teachers with the National Teachers’ Awards 2026 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The awards recognise teachers for their outstanding contribution to school education.

2. INDIA’S GDP GROWTH

India recorded 7.8% real GDP growth in the first quarter of FY 2026–27. The strong growth indicates continued resilience in domestic economic activity.

3. GST COLLECTION

India’s gross GST collection in August 2026 reached ₹1,99,853 crore, registering a 14.8% year-on-year increase. Strong GST collections reflect continued economic and tax activity.

4. RBI LIQUIDITY MANAGEMENT

The Reserve Bank of India announced a ₹7 lakh crore Variable Rate Reverse Repo (VRRR) auction for 7 September 2026. The measure is aimed at managing liquidity in the banking system.

5. NEPAL FLOOD CRISIS

Nepal is facing a serious flash-flood situation, with rescue and relief operations continuing in several affected areas. India has also assisted in evacuating Indian citizens from affected regions.

6. IRAN’S ECONOMIC PRESSURE

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for national unity amid increasing economic pressure and challenges linked to tensions with the United States.

7. HEAVY RAINFALL ALERT

The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of India, including Delhi, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Bihar and adjoining areas. Authorities have advised people to remain alert in vulnerable regions.

8. TENZING NORGAY NATIONAL ADVENTURE AWARDS

The Government of India announced the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024. The awards recognise outstanding achievements in adventure activities and encourage courage, endurance and leadership.

9. ICC WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2027

India will host the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in February 2027. The tournament will add a new major event to the international women’s cricket calendar.
