1. INDIA’S GDP GROWTH

India’s real GDP grew by 7.8% in the first quarter of FY 2026–27 (April–June). Real GVA recorded a growth of 8.2%, indicating strong economic activity.

2. INDIA–UZBEKISTAN RELATIONS

India and Uzbekistan upgraded their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both countries also set a target of achieving $5 billion in bilateral trade by 2030.

3. SEMICON 2.0

India notified the Semicon 2.0 programme to further strengthen the country’s semiconductor ecosystem. The programme focuses on areas such as chip design, manufacturing, packaging and skill development.

4. UPI EXPANSION IN UZBEKISTAN

NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Uzbekistan’s National Interbank Processing Centre (NIPC) partnered to facilitate UPI payments through UzQR in Uzbekistan.

5. INDIA’S ECONOMIC OUTLOOK

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said India is expected to maintain economic growth of 7% or more during FY 2026–27 despite global economic uncertainties.


6. SEMICONDUCTOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT

India has achieved the target of developing 85,000 semiconductor engineers in four years, strengthening the country’s skilled workforce for the semiconductor industry.


7. INDO-GERMAN ENVIRONMENT FORUM

The 4th Indo-German Environment Forum is being held in New Delhi on 1 September 2026. The forum focuses on cooperation between India and Germany in environmental and sustainability-related areas.


8. RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE

The Union Government has approved major railway multi-tracking projects involving Odisha and Jharkhand to improve rail capacity, connectivity and transportation efficiency.
