1. INDIA’S GDP GROWTH

   India’s real GDP grew by 7.8% in the first quarter of FY 2026–27 (April–June). The growth indicates continued strength in economic activity despite global economic challenges.

2. INDIA’S FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVES

   India’s foreign exchange reserves reached around $729.33 billion as of August 21, 2026. Foreign-currency inflows have also remained strong.

3. KAVACH 4.0 FOR RAILWAY SAFETY

   Indian Railways approved around ₹170 crore for the implementation of Kavach 4.0 on the remaining 712 route-km of the Moradabad division. Kavach is India’s indigenous automatic train protection system designed to improve railway safety.

4. GST COLLECTION

   India’s gross GST revenue rose by 14.8% year-on-year to around ₹1.99 lakh crore in August 2026. The increase reflects continued economic and business activity.

5. BIHAR–JHARKHAND SONE RIVER AGREEMENT

   Bihar and Jharkhand signed an agreement related to the sharing and management of Sone River water. The agreement is significant for water management and irrigation in the two states.

6. JHARKHAND: JPSC AND JSSC

   Recruitment examinations conducted by JPSC and JSSC continue to remain an important issue among students and job aspirants in Jharkhand. Examination-related concerns and recruitment matters remain significant for state-level competitive exams.

7. CHINA OPEN BADMINTON

   Indian badminton players, including Kidambi Srikanth and Tanvi Sharma, featured in the China Open tournament.

8. INDIAN CRICKET

   The BCCI continues to review India’s cricketing performance and preparations for upcoming international assignments. Team selection and future series remain important developments in Indian cricket.

9. INDIA’S SPACE SECTOR

   India continues to strengthen its space programme through new missions and greater participation of private companies. ISRO remains a key organisation in the country’s expanding space ecosystem.
