SUMMARY

The story ‘A Truly Beautiful Mind’ is a short biography of the greatest scientist ever – Albert Einstein. After his birth he was thought as a freak because of his too large head. He couldn’t speak till the age of two and half and he was also not interested in playing with his friends outside but only got engaged in the mechanical toys. In school he was not a good student but after reaching in high school,  he scored good marks in almost all subjects . He was born in Germany but yet he didn’t like and tolerate the strict discipline of the schools there, so finally he left the school and with mutual discussion with his parents, got admission in a German speaking Switzerland. There, further he joined the university in Zurich for his degree. He made a friend there named Mileva-Maric whom he used to work on “relativity” with. After becoming a graduate he got his first job in 1902 as a technical expert in the patent office in Bern. There, besides his office work, he started working on his own ideas but in secret. Even the extent of his work was as much serious as he used to call his desk drawer “Bureau of Theoretical Physics”. In the newspaper of 1905 Einstein’s “Special Theory of Relativity” with the equation E = mc^2 was published and became the world’s most famous formula that describes the relationship between mass and energy.

On the other hand, Einstein married to Mileva Maric, few years after the rejection by his mother as Mileva was three years older than Einstein and was a continuous book reader like him. They had two sons but after sixteen years of their marriage, they finally divorsed. But Einstein married his cousin Elsa the same year.

By his publication of  “General theory of Relativity”, he interpreted the Gravity and this was proved in a Sun Eclipse of 1919. For this invention he was awarded by the “Nobel Prize for Physics” in 1921. This made him famous in whole the world. After Nazis came to the power in Germany, Einstein emigrated to the United States. There he wrote a letter to the President about the danger of nuclear Bomb, when he came to know that the nuclear fission has been discovered in Germany. The scientists of America, in a secret project of their own, developed the Atomic bomb and dropped it on Japan’s major cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. Einstein was shaken by the extent of the destruction because of the bombing and started campaigning against the arms build up in whole the world. He was then began to be known as a character who was inspiring the world for peace and fraternity. After his death in 1955 at the age of 76, the people began to know him not only as a scientific genius but also as a world citizen and a visionary.
