🇮🇳 National Affairs

1. 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi
The 18th BRICS Summit is being hosted by India in New Delhi on 12–13 September 2026. India’s theme is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” Major discussions include global governance, trade, technology, food and energy security and cooperation among Global South countries.

2. New Delhi Declaration
BRICS leaders adopted the New Delhi Declaration, with the grouping backing reforms in global institutions and supporting India and Brazil’s aspirations for greater representation in the UN Security Council. The declaration also strongly condemned terrorism.

3. India–China diplomatic engagement
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. Both sides stressed improving business links, people-to-people mobility and rebuilding trust in bilateral relations.

4. BRICS and Middle East conflict
BRICS leaders expressed concern over conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine and called for greater diplomatic efforts and protection of civilians and critical infrastructure.

5. China to host BRICS Summit in 2027
China is set to take over the BRICS chairmanship and host the 19th BRICS Summit in 2027.

6. RBI announces ₹1 lakh crore bond sale
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced an open-market sale of government securities worth ₹1 lakh crore, beginning 16 September 2026. The move aims to absorb excess liquidity from the banking system.

7. Bharat Innovates Exposition at BRICS Summit
The Bharat Innovates Exposition showcased 37 deep-tech innovations, including AI-based cervical cancer screening, marine robotics, floating solar technology and AI-enabled maternal-fetal monitoring.
