1. INDIA–BELGIUM STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
India and Belgium agreed to strengthen cooperation in defence, semiconductors, critical minerals, renewable energy, maritime security and trade. Both countries also highlighted the importance of cooperation against terrorism.
2. ‘RAKSHA’ DEFENCE DIPLOMACY ROADMAP
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled ‘RAKSHA’, a 10-year roadmap aimed at expanding India’s global defence partnerships and strengthening international security cooperation.
3. ISRO’S EOS-05 MISSION
ISRO is scheduled to launch the EOS-05 Earth-observation satellite aboard the GSLV-F17 on 4 September 2026. The mission will enhance India’s Earth-observation capabilities.
4. INDIA–FRANCE DEFENCE MANUFACTURING
Bharat Forge’s Kalyani Strategic Systems and France’s Thales signed an agreement for manufacturing 70-mm rocket systems in India. The partnership will support India’s defence manufacturing capabilities.
5. INDIA’S FOREIGN-EXCHANGE RESERVES
India’s foreign-exchange reserves reached around $729.3 billion. Strong foreign-currency inflows have also supported the Indian rupee.
6. BIHAR FLOOD SITUATION
Rising water levels in the Ganga, Kosi and other rivers have increased flood concerns in several districts of Bihar. Heavy rainfall in Nepal’s Terai region has also contributed to the situation.
7. BIHAR–JHARKHAND SONE RIVER AGREEMENT
Bihar and Jharkhand signed an agreement related to Sone River water sharing, addressing a long-standing inter-state water management issue.
8. EL NIÑO AND INDIAN MONSOON
The developing El Niño phenomenon may influence rainfall patterns in India. Experts are watching its potential impact on monsoon distribution and extreme rainfall events.
