Q.1 How did the book 'The travel of a monarch' help Ebright to become a Scientist.


Answer:

In this book there was an explanation about the migration of the butterflies towards central America. The writer of the book has suggested research on butterflies. So it became a guide for Ebright.


Q.2 What was the role of Ebright's mother to become a Scientist ?


Answer:

Ebright's mother used to help and support him in research work. She used to buy.h the Scientific instruments for their research. When Ebright got bored, her mother gifted him a book which later became the base for Ebright to become a Scientist.



Q.3. What lesson did Ebright learn when he did not win any prize at the science fair?


Answer:


Ebright participated in a Science fair and exhibited slides of frog tissues. But he did not get any prize. This incident made him learn that Science is not about displaying anything, it is about conducting experiments and finding new opportunities in the field of interest.



Q.4. What are the qualities necessary to be a Scientist, an Economist or a historian?


Answer:


Mainly there are three qualities that we can consider as necessary to be a Scientist, an Economist or a historian and that are mind set, curiosity and strong will to achieve goals.

Q.1.What experiments and projects had been done by  Ebright ?


Answer:

Ebright worked  on the viral disease that killed Monarch caterpillars and found that the disease was carried by beetles. After that he started an experiment on the theory that how viceroys butterflies copied Monarch and became less likely to be eaten by the birds. Further, he did  an experiment on an unknown insect hormone which led his theory on the life of cells. Also, he built a new instrument and  experimented about the purpose of the Twelve tiny gold spots on a Monarch Pupa.


Q.2. Answer  the following questions :

        i. What is the DNA fingerprint ? What would you do if you get a chance to  

           work like Ebright ?

        ii. How does a honeybee find his own honeycomb ?


Answer:

i. DNA describes about the blueprint of life and heredity. And it is a measure of information that passes from one generation to the next generation. If I get a chance to work like Ebright, I would like to study the cause of diseases and how the immune system can become so strong to fight against any type of disease.


ii. Honeybees emit some chemicals which are used as a signal to trail the way of their honeycomb. With the help of these chemicals they always reach their destination.
