THE BALL POEM

SUMMARY:-

The poetry “The Ball Poem” by John Berryman is about the motivation which the poet wants us to have whenever we lose anything in our life. The poet wants to teach us that many of the things in our lives may either be lost or snatched by any one but we should not be upset because of those things. The poem gives the example of a boy, who has a ball and is very happy. He is jumping and enjoying the moment, but when he loses his ball, he becomes so sad and is not ready to be convinced that he may have some other ball anyhow or at least he can buy it again. Everything seems worthless for that boy as he has lost his ball. Further, the poet wants to tell us by the poem that money is not everything. This is essential for every one to know that whenever there is any loss in our lives, we must try to stand up and move ahead rather than to be upset and hopeless.
