SUMMARY:-

The poetry, “ Amanda” by Rabin Klein is all about the imaginative world of the children and the restrictions imposed by the parents on their activities and their desires as well. There is a girl child named Amanda who is always restricted by her mother. She is prohibited to bite her nails, to hunch her shoulders and to walk in a peculiar way. Again, every time she is asked to finish her homework, to clean her room and her shoes. She is forbidden to eat chocolates, to be moody and to concentrate on the instructions of her mother.

But Amanda likes to live her life with her own conditions. As she is a child, she imagines a different world that is a sea with an emerald where she is the only inhabitant and living like a Mermaid. Again, she imagines that she is an orphan and on the street, she is roaming bare feet. Then, she imagines herself as Rapunzel with so long golden hair and wishes to live in the tower alone and peacefully.
