Summary:-

The chapter, " A House is not a Home" by Zan Gaudioso is all about the challenges one has to face when he or she converts into a teenager. The author, during his childhood, gets admission in high school and remembers his experiences, friends, teachers and all his activities in the previous school. One afternoon on Sunday, the author was doing his homework and his mother was stoking the fire in the fireplace. As usual his red tabby cat was lying on the top of the papers and was engaged in disturbing him. Suddenly he smelled something strange and found that there was fire In the house. He and his mother ran out of the house and called the fire department. But his mother ran back to the house twice to collect some important documents and other things. The firefighters started their work and somehow brought his mother out. The house was destroyed and the author noticed that his cat was also not there. He broke down into years and was missing his cat a lot. He also had lost all his school materials and went to his grandparents' house. In his school, the teachers as well as the students knew very well about his situation. They all collected the amount mutually and bought for him all the stuff like books, copies, different dresses and all other required things. For his surprise, they all at first forcefully sent him to the gym where he found all the things as a surprise. It was a very emotional situation for him and suddenly he had many friends. After one month he was watching, his house was starting to rebuild, but he was missing his cat so much and imagined that his cat might have been burnt in the fire. But this time he was not alone but some new friends were with him to support. Suddenly a lady came to him with his cat and he became very happy watching his own cat. He understood that in the fear of fire, his cat had run from the house to save it's own life but now somehow has returned back.

Zan Gaudioso द्वारा अध्याय "A House is not a Home", उन सभी चुनौतियों के बारे में है जिनका सामना उस समय करना होता है जब कोई एक‌ किशोर या किशोरी में परिवर्तित हो जाते हैं। लेखक, अपने बचपन के दौरान, हाई स्कूल में प्रवेश पाता है और अपने अनुभवों, दोस्तों, शिक्षकों और पिछले स्कूल में उसकी सभी गतिविधियों को याद करता है। रविवार की दोपहर एक, लेखक अपना होमवर्क कर रहा था और उसकी माँ चिमनी में आग लगा रही थी। हमेशा की तरह उसकी लाल टैबी बिल्ली कागजों के ऊपर लेटी हुई थी और उसे परेशान करने में लगी हुई थी। अचानक उसे कुछ अजीब सी गंध आई और उसने पाया कि घर में आग लगी हुई है। वह और उसकी मां घर से बाहर भागे और दमकल विभाग को फोन किया। लेकिन उनकी मां कुछ महत्वपूर्ण दस्तावेज और अन्य चीजें इकट्ठा करने के लिए दोबारा घर वापस चली गईं। दमकलकर्मियों ने अपना काम शुरू किया और किसी तरह उसकी मां को बाहर निकाला। घर को नष्ट कर दिया गया था और लेखक ने देखा कि उसकी बिल्ली भी वहां नहीं थी। वह कुछ वर्षों में टूट गया था और अपनी बिल्ली को बहुत याद कर रहा था। उन्होंने अपने स्कूल के सभी सामग्रियों को भी खो दिया था और अपने दादा दादी के घर गए थे। उनके स्कूल में, शिक्षकों के साथ-साथ छात्रों को उनकी स्थिति के बारे में अच्छी तरह से पता था। उन सभी ने राशि को परस्पर एकत्र किया और उसके लिए सभी सामान जैसे किताबें, प्रतियां, अलग-अलग कपड़े और अन्य सभी आवश्यक चीजें खरीदीं। उसे surprise देने के लिए, उन्होंने सभी को पहले जबरदस्ती जिम में भेजा, जहाँ उस ने सभी चीजों को surprise के रूप में पाया। यह उसके लिए बहुत ही भावनात्मक स्थिति थी और अचानक उसके कई दोस्त बन गए थे। एक महीने के बाद वह देख रहा था, उसका घर फिर से बनना शुरू हो गया था, लेकिन वह अपनी बिल्ली को बहुत याद कर रहा था और उसने कल्पना की कि उसकी बिल्ली आग में जल गई होगी। लेकिन इस बार वह अकेले नहीं थे बल्कि कुछ नए दोस्त उनके साथ थे। अचानक एक महिला अपनी बिल्ली के साथ उसके पास आई और वह अपनी बिल्ली को देखकर बहुत खुश हो गया। वह समझ गया कि आग के डर से, उसकी बिल्ली घर से भाग गई थी ताकि वह खुद की जान बचा सके लेकिन अब किसी तरह वापस लौट आयी है।
