  • September 15 is celebrated as National Engineers Day and International Day of Democracy.

  • National Engineer Day: Every year in India, 15 September is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya.

  • International Day of Democracy: It is celebrated in all member states of the United Nations to promote the principles of democracy and spread awareness for it



Prime Minister inaugurated 7 urban infrastructure projects in Bihar

  • Prime Minister Narendra launched seven urban infrastructure projects in Bihar on 15 September 2020 through visual medium.

  • Of these 7 projects, 4 projects are related to water supply, two are related to sewage treatment and one is related to riverfront development.

  • The total budget for this project will be 541 crores.

  • Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) will have the overall responsibility for implementing these projects


India became a member of the United Nations' Commission on status of women (CSW)

  • on September 15, 2020 India has been selected as a member of United Nations Commission on status of women (CSW), a body of the economic and social council (ECOSOC) in United Nation.

  • India will be at this position for next four years from 2021 to 2025.



Aircraft (Amendment) Bill 2020 has been passed by Parliament

  • The aircraft Amendment Bill 2020 is passed by Parliament after the approval of Rajya Sabha on September 15.

  • This bill had been initially passed by Lok Sabha on March 17, 2020.

  •  This bill amends the aircraft act 1934 with the conversion of three regulatory bodies under the Civil Aviation ministry.

  • The three regulatory bodies are:

    • The aircraft accidents Investigation Bureau

    • The directorate General of Civil Aviation, and

    • The Bureau of Civil Aviation security.
